Did you know that only 21 percent of full science professors
and a mere 5 percent of full engineering professors are women? There is a
significant gap between the number of men and the number of women in science. So what can we
do to get more girls and women interested and have them pursue it? One way is hosting
events for girls to promote female scientists

Paper copter in flight. |
Before Spring Break, a few female GA students, including
myself, attended the Women in Science Fair at Glenside Elementary. Throughout
the day, we made paper copters with students at Glenside in grades K-4. All of
the students showed a ton of interest and desire to make the paper copter
themselves. Of course, some of the younger students wanted a bit of help with
the cutting, but we could see the great sense of accomplishment on their faces
after they had finished making it.
